Description
This book is made entirely of 13 folded boxes and enclosures that unfold layer by layer. Although the book looks complicated, it is not difficult to make and its size and format can easily be adapted. It is based on the Zhen Xian Bao, (a traditional Chinese sewing book), a form of folk art made by ethnic Chinese groups to hold threads, needles, patterns, and sewing supplies. Many things can be housed in this finished structure: surprises, stories, drawings, secret books, collected ephemera, hidden messages, prints, small photos, keepsakes, mementos and more. It can be used for practical storage or as the foundation for artist’s books.
All paper is provided by the instructor.
